F land, I was on a boat (plus why "recovery days" are key)

F land, I was on a boat (plus why "recovery days" are key)

Last week was a game-changer for me…

My wife celebrated her birthday, and I treated her to a cruise from Miami to the Florida Keys and Bahamas.

The best part?

It was adults-only. No kids!

This wasn't just a celebration… It was what I call my "recovery days."

3-4 days completely dedicated to rest, recovery, and relationship nurturing.

Let me be real with you for a moment…

As entrepreneurs, we tend to glorify the hustle. The grind. The 24/7 dedication to scaling our businesses.

But I've learned (sometimes the hard way) that this approach is fundamentally flawed.

You see, it's not about working ALL the time at the sacrifice of everything else—especially your relationships.

I've watched too many friends go through divorces because they neglected what matters most.

Trust me, it's not pretty…

You want examples?

How about this…

These are purely made up stories and definitely did NOT happen to anyone…

You could be that guy to lose half his business that he'd spent 15 years building, because his wife was technically a co-founder on paper.

Or maybe you have to sell your dream home to pay the settlement, and live in an apartment while continuing to pay the mortgage on the house your ex-wife lives in.

And perhaps worst of all, be a guy to see his kids every other weekend because the ex-wife convinced the court he was an "absent workaholic"

(Which, if we're being honest, probably wasn't far from the truth).

And look, wives have it hard too. Maybe I’ll talk about them another day…

But my point is… there's a counterintuitive business benefit to these recovery days…

Most breakthrough ideas almost NEVER come when you're grinding at your desk.

They come when you're relaxed, when your mind can wander, when you're not forcing it.

That magical moment in the shower, on a walk, or staring at the ocean from a cruise ship deck—that's when the million-dollar insights tend to appear.

So I took these few days to work on my relationship, recharge my energy, and create space for new ideas to emerge.

Now I'm back with fresh energy and perspectives to help my clients break through to their next level.

And speaking of breakthroughs…
