It was just a normal day until this happened

Recently, I was flying back from visiting my mom in the UK to Orlando.

I'd booked a premium economy ticket for around three thousand, hoping to get upgraded to first class at the gate.

I REALLY wanted that lie-flat bed for the overnight flight since I can't sleep sitting up on planes.

When I checked online, first class was a whopping ten thousand.

Way too expensive for a night's sleep, right?

(Even if I can, why not try for a good deal…)

At the airport gate, I succeeded…

I only had to pay a nine hundred upgrade fee (saving over six thousand compared to booking first class outright)...

Feeling accomplished, I heard a British accent beside me.

Another passenger was upgrading at the same time.

We started chatting, and it turned out he lived in West Palm Beach too.

"What do you do for work?" I asked.
