The night everything else stopped mattering
A few nights ago was rough...
My 2-year-old daughter was released early from daycare because she was throwing up.
My wife took the first shift, caring for her until about 2:00 AM.
Then it was my turn...
From 2:00 AM until 7:30 AM, I held my little girl as she threw up over and over again throughout the night.
I won't sugarcoat it… those hours were filled with a special kind of parental terror.
The kind where every time she whimpered, my heart raced.
The kind where you're simultaneously exhausted and hyper-alert.
The kind where you'd gladly take on their suffering if you could.
As I sat there in the dim light of her room, rocking her between episodes, a thought struck me…
This is what actually matters.
Not the revenue targets.
Not the marketing funnels.
Not the team challenges.
Just being there when my daughter needed me most.
And I'm incredibly fortunate that I could be there fully present, without worrying about my business falling apart in my absence.
This made me think about the many entrepreneurs that can’t…
So many entrepreneurs build what I call "dependent businesses…"

They've essentially created high-paying jobs for themselves, not true businesses.
