What 12 lost fish taught me about strategy

What 12 lost fish taught me about strategy

I've got one final story from my wife's birthday cruise…

And that might just transform how you think about scaling your business...

While in the Bahamas, I went on a fishing excursion with a captain, his mate, and five others from Atlanta.

As we headed out from the island of Bimini, I couldn't help but notice the parallels to marketing and business growth.

First insight…

The captain didn't just drop his lines anywhere. He navigated to specific spots where he KNEW fish would be.

He even had radar to pinpoint exactly where the schools were swimming.

Sound familiar?

This is EXACTLY like traffic in marketing.

You don't just place your ads or content randomly… you go where your ideal clients already are.

You use data (your radar) to find the highest-concentration pools of potential customers.

But here's where it gets really interesting…

We started by using chopped squid as bait, catching small fish. Pretty soon, something unexpected happened.

Every time we'd hook one of these small fish, a massive cabañeria would swoop in, bite off our catch, and swim away with our prize!

This happened 12 TIMES before the captain finally said…

"Screw this."

His solution?

"Everyone who pulls up a small fish, pass it to me. We're putting a big hook in it and using it as bait to catch the big fish."

And that's when the profound business lesson hit me…

Most entrepreneurs spend their entire careers fishing for small fish… the low-ticket clients.

The high-maintenance customers who nickel and dime you, the prospects who can barely afford your services.

Meanwhile, the "big fish" are circling, just waiting for the right bait.

If you want to hit 1M months, you NEED to go after the big fish.

That means creating the right "bait" (your high-ticket offer), positioning it perfectly, and having the patience to wait for the big catch rather than celebrating every minnow that comes your way.

Think about it…

Would you rather catch 100 small fish worth 100 each...

Or ONE big fish worth 50,000?

The effort is often the same, but the results are dramatically different.

This is exactly what I help my clients do on our $Mil-A-Month Breakthrough Calls…

identify their "big fish" opportunities and create the perfect bait to attract them.

In our session, we'll:

  1. Identify who your "big fish" clients really are

  2. Craft the perfect high-ticket "bait" to attract them

  3. Develop a strategy to fish where they're already swimming

Now, I hope you've enjoyed these lessons from my wife's birthday cruise.

Sometimes the best business insights come when you're not looking for them…

When you're relaxed, present, and open to the connections all around you.

That's why I'll always prioritize these "recovery days…"

They're not just good for my marriage and wellbeing, they're essential for my business growth too.

To catching bigger fish,
